Louisiana Bounty 11 x 14 Unframed Print
= $ 25.00 This picture was done on a fall afternoon as the sun was setting in the west over the vast expanse of salt water marsh. A butterfly net, or paupiere (Cajuns pronounce it "poe pierre"; the net consists of nylon mesh supported by a steel frame) is lowered into the falling tides as the cool fronts of winter approach. With the falling tides a rush of water leaves the marshes. This triggers the instincts of the wonderfully delicious Louisiana wild shrimp to flee to the open waters of the Gulf. As the shrimp travel with the currents they are snatched up in the large nets. This type of fishing for shrimp is almost entirely environmentally friendly and very productive, especially in mid-October during the full and new moons as the first strong cold fronts move through the area. *Original includes mounting with triple matting under clear glass in a neutral frame.
