As the sun sets in the west, a lone brown pelican soars over the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Mexico, just off the coast of western Florida.

This late fall picture features the last few remaining saltwater marshes dotted with wild palmetto palms, sea grapes and wild flowers indigenous to Florida.  With the massive buildup of residential properties, this area near Hudson, Florida remains as the state appeared many, many years ago.
