The location of this picture is the backwoods of Kentucky only a few miles from the birth place of Abraham Lincoln.  In the background the green renewal of spring is in full production as the crystal clear, cold water of the spring rains meanders along Otter Creek.  Above the creek hangs a large redbud tree in it's full glory of pinkish-purple buds, adding to the exquisite beauty of spring in the Kentucky woods.  The redbud produces so many buds that the tree is covered from the tips all along the entire branch.
With the beauty of spring upon the woods, many butterflies of all types gather on the banks of the creek to sample minerals from the vast amounts of creek rocks that line the banks and to feed on the nectar from the large quantities of wild flowers that carpet the ground.  This is also the time of year when the wild turkeys are laying their eggs and the woods are filled with their distinct sounds of "gobble, gobble, gobble."

*Original includes mounting with triple matting under clear glass in a neutral frame.
