Bay St. Elaine was and still is a very valuable and productive natural gas and oil field in Louisiana on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico. This picture was done on a fall evening with the full moon rising over a drilling rig. To its right are the living quarters and production facilities where the men and women live, work and sleep while they produce the riches beneath the land. The picture shows how with proper organization, caring, responsibility, and capabilities,  the industry can produce the resources that America needs and at the same time preserve the beauty of the saltwater marshes, bays, and wildlife which live in the area. And not only preserve it, but actually add to the beauty and interest of the open fields of marshland known by the Cajuns as the “trembling prairie.”

*Original includes mounting with triple matting under clear glass in a neutral frame.
