Spirits Trapped On The Sun

In my travels and artistic pursuits I spent time in Tucson, Arizona where my son attends graduate school. If I were to spend much time there my art work would probably change, due to the influence of the Indian art which abounds there.
This picture is a departure from my usual style of work. This was done with an airbrush and mechanical pen technique.
The mountains in the background are surrounded by mist as the blazing sun shines down on the valley below. The lone abstract swarrow cactus and the exhausted horse and rider depicts the struggle between man and nature.
The repeating patterns below represent the endless time of nature and man's attempt to shape it. The flares from the sun represent the spirits which came before and were taken with things still left to do.
