Along the emerald coast of Florida, between Pensacola and Destin, lies the Island of Santa Rosa with its southern side shown as the Gulf of Mexico's emerald green and blue waves gently break on its shores, washing the pure white sugar sands onto the beaches.  This action forms the last remaining areas of sand dunes covered with sea oats and native vines thriving and holding in place the fragile sands which form this barrier island, allowing it to protect the mainland of the panhandle of Florida.
